Peña Flamenca La Plateria:
Opened in 1949 as Spain's first flamenco club, the original aim here was for aficionados to gather and celebrate flamenco, rather than bleed the public of their pennies for the privilege of watching. It's reflected in the 8€ cover charge and although it's only open to the public on Thursday, La Plateria always provides an exhilarating line up of the local and visiting talent.

Eshavira:
The yellowing posters of the flamenco legends of old, which sit on the walls of this dim, smokey haunt tell you how long Eshavira has been worshipping and showcasing the art of flamenco. With a Sunday night programme regularly featuring some of the most well respected artists in town, this bar is recommended by anyone in the know as the place to see real flamenco.

Huerto del Loro:
With a fixed programme of rotating groups and artists, this warmly lit, intimate cave has flamenco every evening from Tuesday to Sunday. It's worth the steep climb up a winding staircase to get there on Sunday nights when Pilar Fajardo dances alongside the breathtaking young cantora Naike.
Carrera del Darro, Albaycin, Granada

Tablao Albayzin:
Many of the Sacramonte tablaos are treated with scorn by both artists and genuine punters for not respecting either. This one however comes recommended by locals and artists alike. The 28€ entry fee is steep so it's probably worthwhile making sure there is a good lineup before you book.
